Mom Finds Out Autistic Employee Wrote On Her Cake, Then Tells The Store Manager This
Mother Lisa Aldrich bought a birthday cake at her local grocery store – she asked one of the employees to decorate the cake but when she received it, she was totally shocked.
Upon first glance, it’s obvious the writing on the cake is horrible. But this wasn’t some kind of joke on Lisa.
There’s actually a wonderful explanation about what happened. This is what Lisa said:
“I picked out a cake and asked a bakery-looking-employee if she could write on the cake for me. She said she would, and after a long time, she came and presented me with this cake.
I looked her in the eye and said thank you before I even looked at the cake. After looking, I nervously laughed and headed to check out.
It didn’t really matter to me that it looked so bad.
I thought people would think it was funny.
The cashiers didn’t think it was so funny though, and called a manager over to look.
Then to my surprise, one cashier put her arm on my shoulder and said:
“The girl who wrote that has Autism. Thank you for smiling and thanking her. Even though she’s not supposed to write on cakes, you probably made her day.
And it turns out, the cake was just as delicious as any other cake!”
Isn’t that a cool story?
Just think what would have happened if Lisa had yelled at the person who wrote on the cake.
That probably would have crushed her.
But instead Lisa treated the woman with respect and kindness.
And I’m guessing that as a result, that woman is proud of the work she did.
And she should be.
She did the best she could.
And you can’t ask for more than that.
I hope that maybe the store reconsiders and has her decorate more cakes.
I would buy one from her in a heartbeat.
Please SHARE this beautiful story if you think Lisa is an amazing woman, and if that cake looks pretty delicious!
